Good Neighbours / Reducing Emissions / Recycling / Community Support

Waste has become an increasingly difficult environmental and economic problem, one which affects us all and to which we all contribute. Individuals, at home or at work, have a vital role to play in schemes to reduce waste.

Today's complex, technologically based society, combined with population growth, has led to the generation of enormous quantities of waste. As more businesses and organisations consider the effects of their activities on the environment, waste generated at work is increasingly receiving attention. More and more, the production of waste is seen as a form of inefficiency and misuse of resources, which has both economic and environmental implications for individual companies and the country as a whole.

ABC Plumbing, Heating and Electrical has many recycling programs in effect to help reduce our waste.

Paper and Cardboard
Paper and cardboard are two of the most regularly found materials in our office place. We’ve all printed something out unnecessarily, or used more than we need to. So recycling rather than throwing away helps to reduce the amount of waste we produce in our office.

Green Waste and Building Materials
Our tradesmen may not have the same recycling needs as our office workers – however there’s still a need for a recycling program. Often it’s possible to re-use or recycle the by-products from our work sites.

Scrap Metal Recycling
Scrap metal is a valuable raw material; recycling scrap metal helps to save such resources as ore and coal, as well as to reduce noxious emissions entering the atmosphere. All of our scrap metal is sent for recycling on a regular basis.

Printer Cartridges
Recycling printer ink cartridges is another way of doing our bit in the workplace. There are services available that will take our used cartridges, refill with ink and return for us to use again.

Electrical Equipment
Most 21st century businesses operate using a range of electrical items and technological equipment – and as technology changes, old equipment is often left on the scrapheap. There are specialist recycling companies that will collect items on behalf of our business, wipe all stored information before selling the items on to the developing world or using parts in new equipment.

Used Vehicle Fluids
During vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair activities, engine oil and other products are properly stored and sent to recycling locations for processing. Recycling used motor oil helps protect the environment while conserving a valuable petroleum resource.
